We are now a month into the new year, but eSports arenas are only just starting to heat up for what promises to be another year of intense action, great matches, and fun and excitement to be hand all around. The eSports team Duskbin has written up three in-depth articles that draw attention to the teams and players that they believe are the ones to keep an eye on for 2011.
Drawing on Fnatic’s cArn’s words, 2011 will bring a fiercely competitive year for Counter-Strike with numerous teams worth keeping an eye on, including Fnatic themselves, MeetYourMakers, Lions, mTw, Frag eXecutors, and SK-Gaming. Tournaments will likely be close affairs with any of these teams potentially coming out on top. We’re still betting on Fnatic and SK-Gaming in this list, though (even if we are a little biased).
QuakeLive is another one of the biggest games in eSports as well, and there are a number of players to keep an eye on. Av3k is among them, and a big name in his own rights. Those of you who saw the mind-blowing match between Cypher and Cooller at QuakeCon last year will not be surprised that both of them on the list as well. Additionally, K1llsen, DaHang, SK-Gaming’s Rapha, and Fnatic members Strenx and Spart1e made the list.
Wrapping up their three-part series, Duskbin takes a look at StarCraft 2, which is undoubt and arguably one of the biggest games in eSports at the moment. Making this list is Mvp, White-Ra, and Team Dignitas’ SjoW (who recently upset White-Ra at Intel Extreme Masters), as well as MorroW, Dimaga, and Evil Geniuses’ IdrA. IdrA of course should surprise no one, more so given the quality of the StarCraft II videos he created for us here at Fragmore.
For further information on these players, their past exploits, and a bit more about eSports in general, be sure to check out part one, part two, and part three of this series over at Duskbin.
